Remember it’s always a good idea to have a detailed map or GPS device to help navigate the route effectively and safely.

This route goes over stepping stones, if you wish to miss the stepping stones out, then turn right over the old packhorse bridge when you reach the main road then turn left and follow the road up the hill.

Start) – looking out from the car park turn right towards the main road.

1. Once at main road turn left and head up Goat Lane. follow this lane to a small patch of grass on your right and head over the stepping stones.
2. Once over the stepping stones follow the road around to the left and up the really steep hill.
3. Follow this track all the way up as it twist and turns, make sure to turn around and take a moment to indugle in all the surrounding coutriside.
4. At the top of the hill (once you reach the gate) turn left through the small gate, this path takes you down to Catrigg Force Waterfall. please take special care around the edges of the waterfall.
5. After enjoying some time at the waterfall, head back up the same path up to the top of the hill, turn left through the larger gate into the field keeping any dogs on leads as these fields often have live stock, follow the track to the other side of the field and head through the gate.
6. This is where this walk now comes away from the main track, turn right and head over the field, another stone track should come into view between two fields follow this track through two gates and into a large field, follow the track to a crossroads and head straight over the cattle grid, there is a path to the right, this takes you the wrong way.
7. Follow this track down the hill keeping an eye out on your left for a stile over the stone wall, just after the bend in the road.
8. Once you are over the stile, head straight over the field with the stile directly behind you, head to the gate in the furthest corner of the field, go over the stone stile and continue down the hill to your right, this area of the walk can be slippery and muddy please take care.
9. At the bottom of the hill go through the wooden gate, you should have a wonderful view in front of you now over the fields, follow the path down the hillside towards the path between two walls, continue on this path keeping to the wall on your left, there will be a bench under a small tree, this is a great place to stop off for lunch or a short rest.
10. Continue from the bench a short way, following the wall to a gate, go through the gate and follow the walled track all the way to Langcliffe.
11. Once at the end of the walled track follow the road to the left this is called Pike Lane, follow the road a short distance onto Main Street, with the church in front of you turn right, and head towards the stone fountain with a cross on top, and walk down New Street, signposted on the side of a cottage.
12. At the end of the row of terrace cottages, turn left and walk a short way, then cross the busy B road to get to a small ginnel footpath that takes you down hill, cross over the railway, and continue down the hill towards the road, cross the road and head towards the factory straight in front of you, there is a footpath on the right, keep to this footpath as there is heavy machinery working around this area, follow the footpath around the back of the factory and around the small body of water. This body of water was once used by the factory in the process of creating materials.
13. Follow the waters edge to a set of terrace houses, likely once a place for the factory workers to live, these are now residential properties and holiday cottages.
14. Turn left immediately after the cottages and head over the River Ribble, once over the river turn right and follow the river edge over fields and stiles all the way to Stainforth Force where you can see Salmon jump between late September through October and November, after the first heavy rain in Autum.
15. Contiuning on up the River Ribble a short way, crossing Stainforth Bridge a 17th century arched packhorse bridge now a grade ll listed structure owned by the national trust.
16. Follow the road up the steep hill, take a right turn before the road and go through the gate, walking parrallel to the trainline, follow the path around to the left and walk over the railway bridge.
17. Turn right just before the road and go through the gate into a small picinic area.
18. Walk under the road bridge, you will now be back in the carpark.
