Malham Cove and Janet’s Foss Circular Walk

Please keep dogs on leads around the edge of the Limestone pavement and around livestock.

Caution: Limestone is slippery when wet.

Start) – The Malham Visitors Centre

  1. Starting at Malham Visitor center turn left from the car park and follow the road through the village keeping Malham Beck to your right.
  2. Follow the signposts for Malham cove.
  3. Once you’re just out of the village head through the gate on your right.
  4. Continue up the well maintained path to Malham Cove.
  5. Head up the stairs on your left.
  6. Continue to the top of the limestone pavement and walk across it, some of the stones do move, so watch your step.
  7. Pass through the gate, following the footpath, East a short way then Southeast until you reach Tarn Rd.
  8. Cross the road and go through the gate directly Infront of you.
  9. Follow the footpath sign Gordale 3/4ml continue on this path until you reach another road, the road is Gordale Lane, there is often a refreshments van located here in the Layby, but don’t count on it.
  10. Turn right and follow the road a short way until you reach the sign “Janet’s Foss” with the footpath sign to Malham.
  11. Go through the gate and follow the path through the trees, and keep an eye out for the waterfall “Janet’s Foss” on your left.
  12. Continue on this main path all the way back to Malham, keep an eye out for herons.
